Gut Wrench--the feeling an aspiring author (me) gets when a publisher rejects a manuscript, representing several months to years of work.
Treasure has been rejected by Covenant Publishing after six months of consideration... Okay, so I didn't succeed this time. Give me a day to grieve then I can take the time to recoup and decide what to do with the manuscript from here.

In traditional publishing, six months isn't too bad. (I'm going on 9 months now with one agent who has my full.) But I feel for you just the same. Rejection's always hard no matter how quickly or slowly it comes. Have a bit of chocolate and put the manuscript away for a month. Then pull it out and look at it with fresh eyes.
In the meantime, start another (if you haven't already). Stick with it, Shaunna! You've got talent.

Shaunna, you know that as a non-romance reader Treasure was definitely one of my faves! Hang in there. I know you'll find a great home for it. :) And I totally agree. It's so much easier to hear no right away than to get your hopes up after so long and then be told no!
I'm sorry. That really stinks. I agree with Rebecca, submit somewhere else! Don't get discouraged.
